GRAN CLOS (Priorat)

No. 1 in Priorat: In the 2005 Priorat Wine Festival, Gran Clos was rated the best in the whole competition after the blind tasting event “Taste of the Decade”. “Gran Clos was the wine that was most liked by all...indeed, after the hour and a half that all wines had been decanted, it was this wine that tasted best in form.”

Priorat is the best known, but smallest high quality wine region, and the only one in the region to qualify for Spainʼs top appellation of DOCa. As a wine lover you canʼt miss it.

Grapes

The suffering of their ancient vines through extremes of heat and cold on the tough slate (Llicorella) soils make our grapes truly world-class. Their most cultivated black grape varieties are Garnacha, Garnacha "Peluda" and Cariñena. They also have small plantings of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Tempranillo and Syrah. White grapes represent a small proportion of production using Garnacha Blanca and Macabeo.
